Hi Barbara – I happened upon your work this morning. Outstanding, amazing and motivating to say the least. I am a published colored pencil artist with the Colored Pencil Society of America. I am not a member at present because grand children came into my life. I stopped drawing for a long time but I am getting back in the saddle again. I have been studying Norman Rockwells work and have done an acrylic of the Umpires and now working on Betsy Ross on wood with the Prisma pencils. I can relate to his “Americana” pieces and am learning a lot from his technique. I was so proud of the likeness I have achieved with both pieces until I saw your work. I want to hide in a hole. LOL My favorite is “Dad”. I like that you work in different mediums and enjoy seeing how you lay down your colors differently in each medium. Beautiful.
Cant say enough of your skill in burnishing and line. INSPIRING !!!!!!!!! I’m so glad I saw your work today.

I am truly in AWE of you.

    Valerie

Hi Val! Please accept my apology for not replying to your comment sooner. This is the first time I have checked my website in months. With the school year starting, and a huge commission, I feel like my life has not been my own. I’m so happy that you thought my work was inspiring. Sometimes I think I’m doing pretty good, and other times I’m thinking I have a long way to go. I guess that’s just the way the life of an artist is, right? I didn’t get into the last CPSA show, so I’ve been in the dumps a bit. Your comment definitely made my day! Good luck on your artwork. Maybe I’ll get to meet you someday at a CPSA convention. I’m going to try to stick with it for a while. Colored pencil seems to suit my style the best, but I am still learning too. I think that is the way we grow. You made my day! Thank you so much!
    Take care,
    Barbara
